Hello and welcome to the Internet home of the
Muhlenberg North Band Alumni Association. We have set up this
web site in the hope that we can get in contact with as many
former band members, staff, and supporters as possible. We hope
to have a news letter published on a regular basis to help keep
you informed of the bands activities, accomplishments, and most
importantly, we want to let you know how you can help.
Right now our major concern is getting in touch
with as many former members as possible. On this page or the
front page of this site you will see a registration button. We
ask that you please take the time to give us your email address,
and let us know who you are so that we can keep you informed of
the bands activities and any needs that you may be able to help
fulfill. In the future we plan on posting the names of the
people that are registered members of the Alumni Association, as
well as any information they would like to share to this site so
that old friends can get in contact with each other. If you wish
to keep your contact information private that is fine there is
an option on the registration form just for that. Mr. Stovall
(and the current band members) have been very helpful in
compiling a list of names taken from the 17 years worth of
composite photos that are displayed in the band room. We are
hoping to publish that list to this site as soon as possible so
that you can help us find the people listed on there that are
not yet registered members of the Alumni Association.
Once we
begin getting in contact with everyone then we can become more
organized and set down some goals. In the short term we would at
least like to help support the band whether that is financially or
with volunteer work. Eventually we would like to be able to help
divert some of the costs so that more students are financially
able to participate. Another idea would be to organize an
instrument donation program where you can dust off that
perfectly good horn or drum that is just taking up room in your
closet and give it to a student who otherwise would not be able
to afford one. Not only would you be helping someone take part
in band, but you would be eligible for a tax deduction. In the
long term we would like to provide some sort of scholarship for
band members who wish to continue their education, but we know
that is going to have to wait until we have a large enough
member base to support something like that.
An Alumni organization is not just about raising
money. It is also an outlet where members can help preserve the
history and traditions they helped create. Active alumni give
the current band members a strong connection to the past and
helps instill in them the pride and respect that we all have for
the activity. Strong traditions lead to greater dedication and
success is always relative to dedication. So we ask that you
please help in keeping that tradition of success strong and
become a member of the Muhlenberg North Band Alumni Association.
