2017 SENIORS AND PARENTS INFORMATION

2017 Seniors And Parents

Plans are underway for the 2017 MNHS Band Banquet. The banquet committee is working hard to make this a special night for our senior band members and parents. It is our hope to create an evening that celebrates the band’s accomplishments, outstanding students and graduating class of 2017. The banquet will be held on Saturday, May 13, from 6:30-10:30pm at the Collin College Conference Center at the corner of Taylor-Burke and Community in McKinney. Your invitation will be emailed to you soon!

There are 3 things we need all seniors to do by April 28!

1.    Please send a baby picture and a senior picture for the band video. You may email your pictures to Carl Macero at pres@mnhsband.org or you may turn your pictures into the band hall office in an envelope marked “band video”. Remember to put your name on the back of your pictures so we can return them to you.

2.    Complete the Senior Questionnaire (biography and last will and testament) and Hey Band! Remember When forms NO LATER THAN April 28th.  These are google docs available at www.mnhsband.org/seniors and www.mnhsband.org/rememberwhen.  Please fill these out ASAP!  They will be a part of an important and special keepsake for you.  We want to make sure every senior is represented. If you have any trouble with the google docs, please contact Carl Macero at pres@mnhsband.org.

3.    Send your favorite dance party songs to Maggie Hobbs at hobbsfamilyhome16@gmail.com.

Senior Tables: A section of banquet table will be reserved for every senior (approximately 36” wide by 30” deep) to decorate in his or her honor. Bring pictures, awards, hobbies, college stuff – anything you would like. It's an “All About Me” for graduates! Parents/seniors, you can set up your display on Saturday, May 13th, any time between 4:00 and 6:30pm.

We need band pictures! If you have pictures of the band or colorguard that you would like to submit for the video, please forward them to Josh Nguyen at joshn.business@gmail.com. You can also save them to a disk or flash drive and turn them into the band hall office in an envelope marked “band video”/ Josh Nguyen.

Thank you for your assistance. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact  Patrice Macero at aggiemacero@yahoo.com.

Important Planning & Zoning Meeting

WHAT:   Important Planning & Zoning Meeting
WHEN:  Tuesday Feb 23, 2016 @ 6:00PM
WHERE: City of McKinney Council Chambers (see map below)
               222 N Tennessee St
               McKinney, TX 75070
WHY:      To show support for zoning ordinance change for proposed stadium site

Yes, this is TUESDAY FEB 23, 2016.

We have learned that McKinney ISD has requested a zoning ordinance change at the site they have chosen to build a new stadium facility if the bond election in May gains voter approval.  This is an important step in the process toward accommodating future growth opportunities for many of our extracurricular programs.

We have also learned that there is some opposition to this zoning ordinance change, and it is important that we show our support for the change.

If the zoning change request fails to pass the Planning & Zoning Commission's approval tomorrow evening, it makes the chances for using the proposed site much more difficult to pass when the City Council takes up the issue of the zoning change request.

The Planning and Zoning Commission meeting to discuss and act on this change request will be held tomorrow night at 6pm at the McKinney City Council chambers.  We would like to encourage you to attend this meeting as a show of support for our district's efforts to improve our facilities.

The District's primary factors for choosing the site at SH 121 and Hardin Blvd are

  • Traffic accessibility
  • Parking challenges for concurrent events (example: North, SJMS, and Stadium in a single location)
  • Benefits of East/West Home parking vs. North/South
  • Overall size limitations (traffic flow, separate parent drop-off/pickup areas, bus parking, band equipment truck/trailer access to stadium)
  • Positioned at the Gateway to our city

The costs related to the $62 million total for stadium include all the infrastructure development as well as the cost of the stadium itself.  The actual cost of the stadium is $41 million.  The rest is apportioned to:

  • water, sewer, storm drainage
  • intersections/roads
  • onsite development costs
  • parking,
  • testing, surveys, permits
  • security
  • technology
  • furniture, equipment, supplies, design
  • stadium construction
  • field house/locker rooms
  • and a multipurpose community room within the field house

More information about the bond is forthcoming, so please visit back here often to see updates.
